    Overall Rating: 5 Star Review

    Duration of ownership:6 Months

Strengths: Price, 3-month extended warranty free!

    Weaknesses: Speakers, static stand.

Overall Evaluation: If you register this product within 10-days online at Samsung, they'll extend your 3-year warranty by 3 extra months! I found this monitor brand new on clearance for less than a Franklin and Grant at a huge electronics store. It was a best buy. I was worried giving up my trusty CRT monitor, but I lusted over the 22" screen size, 1680x1050 resolution, 5ms response time and the all digital connection. I've got this monitor hooked up to an nVIDIA 8800GT graphics card via DVI and the picture clarity couldn't be better! Not a single dead pixel either. All my FPS games run great and I experience no lag or ghosting. I'm in LCD nirvana. Get this one if you can!

    Overall Rating: 4 Star Review

    Duration of ownership:12 Days

Strengths: Glossy Frame, All Cables Included, Price

Weaknesses: Poor Warranty Registration (Read on to know what I mean)

Overall Evaluation: To my surprise, the internet pictures of the Samsung 220WM misrepresents it. For example, most of you may already know a popular online store called newegg. If you don't, don't go there looking for pictures for this LCD. It will make you think it looks cheap and like a plastic toy. It isn't. It's not as elegant as HP's sophisticated line of LCDs because unlike HP whose screens and frames are glossy; only the frame is glossy on the 220WM. The screen is widescreen with an aspect ratio of 16:10 with native resolution of 1680 x 1050, 5ms Response Time, and contrast ratio of 700:1 (1000:1 Dynamic). What does all those specifications mean in plain English? For starters, native resolution is the resolution that is looks the best for that particular LCD. Some would argue 24" LCDs with a native resolution of 1920 x 1200 are the most productive size. In comparison, 1680 x 1050 for a 22" is as productive or even more so if you go dual screens without a heavy toll on your wallet. Yes, this is a TN panel. Even the 22" HPs are TN. Why? They're cheap to make. But, don't let that fool you. TN panels are preferably best for gaming since it almost always leave with you low Response Time. And 5ms Response Time will leave ghosting to another monitor (not this bad boy). Finally, lets talk about contrast ratio or the difference between brightest area to the darkest area (x of white pixels vs x of black pixels). The higher usually means better. 220WM has a contrast ratio of 700:1 or you may of heard 1000:1, which both are true since 1000:1 is Dynamic contrast ratio; just a marketing gimmick, but you don't have to take my word for it. It's the same, truly it is.A little on the sad note that the stand is not height adjustable or does it swivel; only tilt. Most of you will be happy about the included accessories. You won't have to go out and buy any additional cables, it comes with every cable needed to get you going (DVI, VGA and Audio). All aside, the following information could be of use to some of you buyers. It concerns your warranty and how you may have to keep that receipt of yours from going into the trash can. The Samsung website does not list this particular model when you try to register. Why register? To keep Samsung on your side when your LCD fails within the 3 Years from the date of your purchase. Odd isn't it. You could mail your registration card but this is the 21st century, the age of the internet. Or dial the no. Good old telephone, never stop from reaching anyone. Before calling Samsung, I wrote down my LCD's model (SyncMaster 220WM), model code (LS22WJWKBJUXAA), and serial number (15 digitals and letters). Call goes thru to automated questions and answers then to real human representative on the first try.BlazeBoy: Hi, I'm trying to register my monitor but your site doesn't have it listed.Jeremy: Hello, may I first get your info (name, address, etc.)?BlazeBoy: Sure...Jeremy: Yes, I'll happy to assist that for you. What is the model code for your monitor?BlazeBoy: LS22WJWKBJUXAA. It's a SyncMaster 220WM.Jeremy: 220WM, I've seen it.BlazeBoy: No, I'm pretty sure its not there...Jeremy: Its there.BlazeBoy: Are you sure? I'm on your website. I cannot register without it.Jeremy: Please give me a few more minutes while I look this up.BlazeBoy: Ok, thank you.Elevator Music.Jeremy: Hello sir, I'm sorry but we're not able to find your particular model. May I have your Serial Number so we can put it in the system. It may at this time not go thru. Do you still have your receipt?BlazeBoy: Well, yes?Jeremy: Sir, please keep your receipt. You may be ask to provide it when you need warranty.BlazeBoy: Umm, OK.Jeremy: May I help you with anything else?BlazeBoy: No, I'm fine. Thank you.

    Duration of ownership:5 Months

Strengths: Awesome Picture, not a single dead Pixel, no bleeding, beautiful gloss black exterior, easy to use controls,(not that you need to use them).Sturdy base with good tiltability.

Weaknesses: Won't swivel/pivot or raise up, like most LCD monitors you will find that you need to put it on a stand (about 4" in my case) or an adjustable wall mount.

Overall Evaluation: You won't find a better Picture anywhere, for any amount of money. Package includes all the cables, DVI, analog, speaker, power. If I need another monitor I will just go buy another of these because there is nothing out there better and I shopped around for 6 months, and over the last 5 months that I've had it I still haven't seen anything better.

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Large screen, great picture quality

Weaknesses: 5ms response is acceptable, base does not allowing monitor to be raised or turned

Overall Evaluation: I was happy to find this large, 22" monitor at a clearance price for $150 including tax. You can't go wrong with the Samsung brand name. Picture quality is great with decent viewing angles. Not a single dead pixel found. This accepts both VGA & DVI inputs. The 5ms response time is acceptable, but I am not a gamer. I wish the base would allow you to raise up the monitor or easily turn it.
