Strengths: This software is easy to use when you are organized with your paperwork & have it in order before you start. It's definitely fair priced & I like the print quality of the forms & supporting schedules.
Weaknesses: It can be cumbersome when you aren't organized and lacks some forms for the state of IL but these can easily be completed on the state website and added to the return.
Overall Evaluation: This is the second year I have used this product and, overall, I feel this product's qualities out-weigh its weaknesses. I would definitely recommend this product if you have more than a basic knowledge of what should be included in your return.

Strengths: Very easy to use.
Weaknesses: None
Overall Evaluation: Only used Tax Cut and not Turbo Tax, so I can't compare the two. Like the fact that it will import the previous years info. Used Tax Cut for over 10 years now without any problems.

Strengths: Product has all the forms to file for businesses, trusts and estates, as well as 1040 tax returns. It is low cost with no limit on the number of returns you can prepare.
Weaknesses: The software is not for dummies. You have to have some knowledge of federal income taxation to use it properly.
Overall Evaluation: This software is great for preparing all kinds of tax returns, 1040's, 1120's, 1065's and 1041's. It's is very inexpensive compared to other software packages that do the same. I wouldn't recommend it for customers who don't know much about federal taxes. You have to have some back ground knowledge in coporate, partnership and trust taxation to use the software properly. I suspect that some of the negative comments may be from users who are not well versed in business and trust tax law.

Strengths: Fed State E-file in one package.
Weaknesses: No in-depth help for the kind of questions that make you want to use tax software.
Overall Evaluation: Simplistic interview. Inadequate for filling out a very basic Schedule C for self-employed person. Looking up help leads to a screen that offers help for $19.95. Had to make repeated visits to IRS website to get answers to my questions. Not worth the money.

Strengths: Installation and online updates to the software are a breeze. The interview system provides an easy way to navigate through just the tax form you need for your situation. Ease of eFiling is a plus.
Weaknesses: I wish the price was a little lower. $90 MSRP for a limited life-cycle software (actually never more than a few weeks for me) is too much.
Overall Evaluation: I have been using TaxCut for a number of years. Very happy with the ease of tax preparation and eFiling. Another useful feature is the ability to import last year's data to fill in personal details.
