    Overall Rating: 5 Star Review

    Duration of ownership:1 Years

Strengths: Stellar graphics, updated controls, 15-20 hour single player campaign, lots more action/fewer puzzles, new budget price

Weaknesses: No longer Gamecube exclusive, lacks PS2 extras, two discs, lacks true widescreen support, too easy

Overall Evaluation: At this point you don't need me to tell you that Resident Evil 4 is a great game. The multiple "game of the year" honors given it by a host of magazines and online sites should be more than enough to warrant your interest. However, I've seen a number of reviews here saying weaknesses: none, and that simply isn't true. RE4 was supposed to remain exclusive to Gamecube (like REmake and RE Zero), but that didn't happen. PS2 owners can now enjoy all of the game play that Gamecube owners had with additional unlockable weapons and character costumes as well as a new five-hour "Separate Ways" campaign through the main story with Ada Wong. Although the graphics clearly aren't as good on PS2, you do get true widescreen support and a slightly more challenging game play experience (because ammo isn't nearly as plentiful in the PS2 port). The only other big difference between the two is that the Gamecube original has now dropped to just $20 new at most stores. RE4 is an excellent game that you should definitely own. If you just own PS2 or Gamecube, go ahead and buy it for that system. However, players owning both machines will probably want to opt for the newer PS2 port. The extra five-hours of game play are definitely worth the PS2's small graphics penalty.

Overall Evaluation: This game is amazing. It is the bst game i have ever played. I can not find even one thing that should be improved. Do not get the ps2 version it is bad. They made the graphics worse, not as many enemies, it has slowdowns.

    Overall Rating: 5 Star Review

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Amazing graphics, top-notch story and action, revamped RE control system

    Weaknesses: None

Overall Evaluation: Resident Evil 4 is one of the best looking games on the Gamecube and the best looking Resident Evil game yet. Every aspect of the game looks amazing, and the sound and voice acting are equally as impressive. The controls have been revamped, with an over-the-shoulder camera system, revised item management, and free-aiming controls. The story is extremely well done, with good pacing and plot points throughout. It's the best Resident Evil game. Without question.

    Overall Rating: 5 Star Review

    Duration of ownership:2 Weeks

Strengths: Great graphics, presentation, new control scheme, over the back camera angle.

Weaknesses: Does not contain bonuses that PS2 version has, aiming could be better, not as scary as the old RE games.

Overall Evaluation: Capcom kind of ran out of steam with the Resident Evil franchise but they reinvented the fourth installment for the Gamecube, and in my opinion, it's the best one yet. The graphics, sound and presentation are some of the best of this console generation. The new analog control scheme and camera angle make a world of difference. There were so many times in the old games where I would die because the D-pad controls were so bad. The only gripe (which is minor) is that RE4 is not quite as scary as the old games. It's filled with more non-stop action moments but contains less of the "dogs crashing through the window" moments that make you jump out of your seat. If I had to choose between the Gamecube or PS2 version, I would probably get the Gamecube due to the better graphics. The PS2 version has some extra items, costumes and extra missions but I believe this (GC) was how RE4 was meant to be played.

    Overall Rating: 5 Star Review

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: (1) Best graphics I've seen on this generation of consoles (2) Great gameplay, revolutionary execution (3) strong story (4) long game with lots of extras/add on missions/mini games

Weaknesses: (1) If you are too young to play an M rated game, you are really missing out on this masterpiece

Overall Evaluation: I believe Resident Evil 4 is the greatest game of all time. If you haven't played it yet, I highly recommend purchasing it ASAP. With #4, Capcom has taken Resident Evil into brave new territory. Ditching the static prerendered (yet beautiful) backgrounds of the previous entries, they have constructed a game with much more satisfying full 3D gamplay AND the graphics still look incredible - even better than the previous games. The game also dishes out plenty of really cool creatures and boss fights and keeps you engaged in the story with frequent scripted events and interactive cutscenes. It is truly a long game but it always seems to offer something new - I am amazed at how much variety of gameplay and environments are in this game. Truly, a must have. I have played through it 3 times and unlocked all the extras. I am considering also purchasing the PS2 port as it contains 5 extra hours of gameplay (as a different character).

    Duration of ownership:

    Strengths: outstanding gameplay, intense

    Weaknesses: none

Overall Evaluation: This game builds on and perfects the previous resident evils. No doubt that this game is the best resident evil to date. Even though there is a lack of zombies, the villagers and religious nuts fill in nicely. One of the best games on the gamecube and a must own for any survival horror fan.

    Overall Rating: 5 Star Review

    Duration of ownership:10 Months

Strengths: Stunning graphics, tighter control scheme when compared to past entries in the RE series, great enemy AI.

Weaknesses: Didn't really like the weapon switch system. Being forced to go to the start menu everytime you need to change out a weapon was somewhat of a pain in the behind. It's a minor complaint though.

Overall Evaluation: This game is just amazingly good. Undoubtedly among not only the Gamecube's best games, but the best games of this generation. Capcom delivers big time here with an intense and entertaining game. I have little to no complaints about RE4. The atmosphere is great, which is bolstered heavily by the insane amount of detail in the characters, landscape, and architecture. The soundtrack adds to the creepy vibe of the game as well. The expanded RPG-like weapon system is very cool. The puzzles are engaging, while not being frustrating. Saving points are pretty abundant, as are ammo and health. You aren't banging your head against the wall as you would when playing some past RE games because you have to backtrack 45 minutes to a save point with a single green herb and 3 shots left in your gun. The boss fights are in a word, awesome. The story isn't jaw-dropping but it is solid and doesn't really lag at any point. RE4 is well paced and depending on skill level you can finish it between 15-20 hours. Everything about this game is fantastic. The vast majority of people share the same opinion. So, go out and pick up a copy of the game. You will be better off for it.

    Overall Rating: 5 Star Review

    Duration of ownership:6 Months

    Strengths: Graphics, Atmosphere, Gameplay.

Weaknesses: It makes other games look bad.

Overall Evaluation: Save yourself the time of reading this review and go buy the game. It's that simple. Resident Evil 4 is one of those rare games that you can recommend with out having to justify it. It is that good. Even if the game had average or sub-par graphics, weak sound, and a non-existent story, I'd still have to recommend it. The game play and control is tight, and works well in both allowing the player to fight his way through enemies and maintain a suspenseful and frantic atmosphere. The level design is challenging and exciting, forcing you to think even as you are fighting for survival. As I said, this game would be a solid buy even if it was poor in the superficial aspects. Adding to the greatness of this game are superb graphics, excellent sound and an intruiging story. The graphics are arguably the best of this generation-any game any system. The music is both haunting and exciting, with some truly creepy ambient themes. The sound effect are right up there with the rest of the package, screams, crunches and explosions. If you're still reading this and haven't been convinced to buy this, I don't know what I can do but say that this is and will be a classic for years to come.
