Strengths: Good price for a 12M camera
Weaknesses: Poor quality LCD; Batteries drain too fast; No optical image stabilization
Overall Evaluation: I gave it a 3 star rating mainly because of its price for a 12M camera. Many areas need improvement but you get what you paid for.1. It's a compact camera, but the exterior looks cheap.2. The LCD's quality is poor compared to a panasonic 10M camear which is 35% expensive than this one.3. The batteries runs out quickly. I owned a 5M Kodak camera and it had the same problem. It bothers me.4. No optical image stabilization. You can zoom when taking video, but it is very noisy, so you might not want to use it. You can finish the included manual in 2 hours - which I like.Overall, it is a good deal for budget buyers interested in a 12M camera. If you can spend $50 more and would be happy for a 10M camera with image stabilization, I would suggest you go for something else.

Strengths: easy to shot pictures. Video is fantastic. Have not had other camera's that have as much clearity and focus as this camera.
Weaknesses: Have found no weeknedd with this product.
Overall Evaluation: This is the second Kodax camera that I have had in the last 3 years. The Z1285 is by far the best camera that we have in our household. It is easy to adjust and the automatic features makes it a great camera for older men who have little or not CAM-Tech knowledge. It is a great product. Chester

Strengths: panorama picture mode is neat.
Weaknesses: Battery Life. Movie choppiness (instead of 30fps, it looks more like 3fps) Kodak help desk is fast but puts all blame on user rather than bad product.
Overall Evaluation: Battery drains very fast. Limited operations before needing change. Movie mode seems to have anti-shake (jitter) built-in (Kodak claims not) -- the result of a slow pan of a room is a series of still images, thus skipping from one image to next rather than smooth pan; almost as if the digital-shake-removal clumped the smooth pan images into a string of individual pics. Camera does not connect to PC as a drive, rather a bulky application gets installed that does not play well with other apps. By far the worst camera I have ever used; this includes all my friends and family. The Kodak help desk reminds me of people reading responses off a sheet, with no knowledge of product.

Strengths: I put in the disc, followed directions, put in the batteries and it has worked perfectly ever since. This took about 5 minutes to set up.
Weaknesses: Haven't found any yet. It has 64MB internal memory, but still only stores about 15 pictures. Just order an 8 GB memory card, so that problem is solved.
Overall Evaluation: For someone who never used a digital camera before this has been a beautiful drive down a country road !I took a panorama picture and just hand held it and it came out perfectly. Printed it in color on my printer (HP Photosmart C4380) on just plain paper, everyday print quality, and it made a beautiful print. With these results, I may not even need photo paper and photo print quality! One of my son's wedding is this afternoon, so after a real tryout, I'll let you know.jack

Strengths: good zoom capabilities, good options for working with photo, can change photo image color, allows operater to crop picture
Weaknesses: a more thorough operating manual must be downloded and printed from internet site about exclusive options for camera, a little hard to understand for first time users
Overall Evaluation: This is a great camera. As I stated in the weaknesses, this is our first digital camera and it is a little intimidating on finding some of the features but we are learning. All the features work great but you must use the more exclusive manual for more in depth picture taking. I happened to be on the web site and found 2 operating manuals for the same camera. The number of pages were a whole lot more on one of the manuals so I took alookat it and found the manual had a lot more information. The zoom is very good for closeups and the crop feature is also great. Somebody else may have a different opinion but so far we are well pleased with the camera. We did purchase a set of rechargeable batteries since it does use up regular digital camera batteries. There are way to many options to mention but so far we are very impressed.

Strengths: takes great pics in almost any light and very close up pics turn out beautiful too...have not tried it at night yet but I feel confident I won't be disappointed-
Weaknesses: there is no peep hole thing to look through besides the big screen (if there is a glare on the screen in the sunlight it's hard to see what you are aiming at in bright light)
Overall Evaluation: love this camera for the price! very safisfied so far....but you gotta get the rechargable batteries if you take a lot of pics, I have had it for less than a week and used 6 AA digital (non rechargable) batteries already. Going to get the recharable ones this week!

Strengths: Features Vs. Price - 12MP, 5X zoom, HD video, 16:9/4:3 aspect ratios, zoom in video mode
Weaknesses: Picture quality on LCD, audio during video, video in QuickTime (.MOV) format, has digital image stabilization but not optical
Overall Evaluation: Before buying this, I was in a dilemma whether to go for Canon (A570 IS, A720 IS) or Kodak Z1285. But dared to buy Kodak for its features given the price.Pictures taken during day time are decent, but those taken in low-light or during night time are disappointing with night mode setting. Probably I need to do some other settings. Pictures taken during sunset in sunset mode are good. I haven't yet explored all the features of the camera, but for an average user, I think this camera is worth the price.I was scared when I viewed the pictures taken on the camera's LCD screen. But felt okay when viewed on laptop. They are not as bad as seen on the camera's LCD screen.
