Strengths: Size and capacity for the money
Weaknesses: none
Overall Evaluation: This is a great product for the size and the money. It has great capacity. The soft ware is very user friendly, even for someone like me that is not well versed in computer products.

Duration of ownership:2 Weeks
Strengths: Great quality, compact design, low noise operation, easy to setup & use, look great
Weaknesses: None
Overall Evaluation: This portable HD is really great with performance and looking. The quality is great with 5 years manufacturer warranty. The unit is compact with low operation noise and low operating temperature. The price is reasonable now, I paid $80 only at OfficeMax (compare with the 100GB version that I paid for $200 two years ago).

Strengths: Small size, fast data transfer rate, 5-year warranty, Seagate's reputation
Weaknesses: None
Overall Evaluation: It's small and lightweight and great for carrying in a backpack. I like the matte finish as it doesn't show fingerprints. I only needed to use the single USB "power+data" plug for my Dell 1520. It's very quiet and has no vibration. It gets warm, but not hot. I find the transfer rate is quite fast for a 5400 rpm drive. I considered the WD Passport, but didn't like the glossy finish, and it only had a 1-year warranty. I think SG's 5-year warranty says something about the build quality and their confidence about the drive.

Strengths: Good price $90.Cool Orange Glow.QuietDoes the job.250gb size is good.
Weaknesses: none, usb cable could be longer.
Overall Evaluation: I'm happy with the purchase, there is a 5 year warranty.I hope it lasts that time frame at least. The instructions state if the drive were to fail.the drive will be repaired/replaced and you will have a new 90day warranty, so that sucks.Their is no sticker to prevent you from opening the case. And voiding the warranty like on the simpletech's drives. Which are only 3year warranty.I opened it, just pull up on the sides of the case, but be careful not to break any thing. The 2.5 drive is a SATA type. All in All, GOod Buy.

Duration of ownership:
Strengths: Small, pretty fast, "roomy", adjustable sleep time.
Weaknesses: weird shape
Overall Evaluation: I had portable Maxtor before and totally hated it. Slow, noisy, running hot and breaking connection with the computer. This one is completly opposite. Quiet, fast, running not hot just warm. The only issue is that when it goes "asleep" there is no way to wake it up except physically disconnect it from the computer and connect it again. But this is issue with all external USB drives. To help with this, Seagate gives you easy way to set sleep time for the drive from one minute to Never which is good.Another thing I don't really like is shape with that angle, it could be a half inch smaller. Excellent product from Seagate.

Duration of ownership:
Strengths: Rugged, activity light, extra power port
Weaknesses: speed
Overall Evaluation: It was a second upgrade I made to portable hard drive due to my conversion from PC to Mac. I use this to back up by Time Machine. It worked great. It has an activity light (the one you see on its side--orange glow) that shows if the drive is doing read/write. It also has an extra USB power cable branching out from data USB cable. This is useful when your computer cannot provide enough power with one USB. At the end of the power cable, there is a label "Power" so that you do not confuse which is which. The drive speed is only 5400 rpm so it make transfer a little slower, but the drive is the least inexpensive among other competitors at the same speed.

Duration of ownership:4 Days
Strengths: It took less than 1 minute to install and start working with my laptop; registration really quick, too. I like the compact size for such a large hard drive; easy to carry around. Yellow light is cool!
Weaknesses: Ceedo software unnecessary and gets in my way every time I open the drive; thinking about uninstalling it.
Overall Evaluation: One of my friends recommended this drive to me. I'm really glad I got it. I use a lot of space with movies and other large multimedia clips, so this will help free up some space on my laptop hard drive. This is the first portable external hard drive I've ever bought. I really like this product.

Overall Rating: 4 Star Review
Duration of ownership:
Strengths: Fast data transfer rate, looks great
Weaknesses: Bulky cable, software not really useful
Overall Evaluation: I have both WD passport and SG Free Agent GO in 250GB. The shiny enclosure of WD Passport is a fingerprint magnet. SG Free Agent GO's enclosure is rugged. The included USB cable has two ports, but not all two are required to power the drive. In most cases, you will only need the thick "power+data". The extra "power" port makes the cable bulky, but is a good backup solution for hubs or older computers with USB ports that are not powered. The pre-installed software I found not really useful, so I deleted it. The choice to use it or ditch it is up to the user. There is nothing groundbreaking about the programs. In general, I am happy with this Seagate product.
