Strengths: Good backup as advertised
Weaknesses: Tech support not up-to-speed for this product. I'm trying to find out the pricing for the Ghost 14 Agent that is referred to for backing up another computer. User manual covers use and licensing of the Ghost Agent and has a link to the Symantec Store for purchase information. Tech support keeps asking if I want to buy another copy of Ghost.
Overall Evaluation: Except for the Agent issue, performs as advertised.

Strengths: It is probably a good file backup program.
Weaknesses: It does not create an image for a system backup.
Overall Evaluation: Prior versions of Ghost have created images for system backups. Without changing the name, Norton has changed the program from an image program to a file backup program. There are better file backup programs available, and it is unfair to change the nature of a program without changing the program name.

Strengths: None. OH the program was actually on the CD.
Weaknesses: False and misleading advertising.
Overall Evaluation: I have a dead laptop. THought I could boot to the CD, execute a backup onto the USB drive I have, then do a full hard disk wipe and reload. NOPE! I got the data off the laptop the old fashioned way by physically removing it. Then I installed Ghost onto a corporate identical laptop, backed it up to the USB drive. Installed it onto the dead laptop. NOPE!So I have to restore the dead laptop by hand. Buyer beware! because you cannot return this once you find that it sucks.OH also I am a Linux guy. After you install this crap, they THEN tell you that it doesn't backup Grub bootloader hard disks, Red Hat Enterprise linux disks, nor any disks with Grub 2. So that's like um 50-75% of the linux installations out there? OH but the advertising materials say it can backup linux disks. No caveats, like the one they tell you AFTER the fact. Oh did I mention? I run CentOS. SO this product has not helped me at all. It is garbage. I'm going to try Clonezilla (an open source one) then fallback to Acronis' True Image that I saw some "from bare metal" recovery messages.

Strengths: Very useful. Great function!
Weaknesses: Sometimes, it fails to restore.
Overall Evaluation: It is a very helpful software to pretect your machine. It has great functions such as backup and restore from system failures. However, sometimes it fails to restore. I don't know the reason, but I did meet once.

Strengths: Easy to use. Powerful
Weaknesses: It has overlap features with Norton 360 V2.0
Overall Evaluation: It is a necessary tool to backup and restore your system. It is easy to use. Full system and file backups can be easily created using this software. System can be restored based on the backups. It is a very useful software, but it overlap features with Norton 360, so sometimes, we feel confused which one we should use.

Duration of ownership:3 Years
Strengths: I have made backups of all my hard drive without a problem to a USB 1T drive. I have been using Ghost for a few years now and have not had a problem. Easy to use.
Weaknesses: None that I have found, BUT, I still have not done a full restore.
Overall Evaluation: It has always found my USB drive and I have done everything but a restore. No problems found so far and has always completed the backups. At the very least it gives me peace of mind knowing I have something to fall back on.

Strengths: New interface, fairly quick at backing up your data.
Weaknesses: It seems to take a long time for the recovery CD to boot up
Overall Evaluation: My first impression with Norton's Ghost 14 was that I was actually running Norton's Save & Restore 2.0. Ghost 14's user interface is almost identical. I found Ghost 14 to be reliable for backing up. I didn't get a chance to use the recovery CD much since I didn't want to wipe out the data on my laptop which already works fine. I did however boot up with the recovery disk and other than being slow to boot it seemed to work fine.

Duration of ownership:
Strengths: It installs easily and so far the features are intuitive and work well
Weaknesses: -this product is slow, bloated, and only half as functional as early versions
Overall Evaluation: When I first installed Ghost it let me know at once that I had aproblem with my RAM. Instead of the 518 MB I had last week, itdetected 448 MB. A quick check of my system shows that Ghost wascorrect although there apparently is a bug that can cause the RAM toshow less. I think that probably having the minum RAM necessary is abad idea. It allowed me to complete the install but warned me thatcertain resources may not work due to the RAM issue.I then ran the driver validation and discovered that two of my driverswere not available in the Symantic, one was a USB Linksys Wireless-GUSB network adapter. The second was a Packet Scheduler Miniport.Neither essential to getting a computer up and running after a disasterso I save the log as text file to deal with later.I'm not going through all of the various parts of the program becausethere are a lot of features, but I would urge everyone who buys this tocheck the Read.me file for known bugs and conflicts.

Strengths: Does the backup
Weaknesses: Apparently doesn't log flag errors (something I read, not something I personally detected)
Overall Evaluation: I have been using Ghost since Ghost 9. I like it. I'm not sure if this version is that much better. I haven't tried the FTP capability. My big concern is that I'll fill the target disk. It doesn't seem to run any faster. Still being able to backup your computer is critical. I've had some PC failures and I hate having to reinstall everything. The only problem is that I have come across backups that have been corrupted. When I was researching wether to buy NG14 or Acronis Home 11 that Ghost will log if there is an error creating a backup image volume but it will not pop up an error flag stating that the backup failed. I know that I have come across invalid images. I think that Ghost should be fixed to register that the backup failed. I remember that it says the backup is done. YOU MUST CHECK THE LOG YOURSELF to see if the backup volume failed!

Strengths: easy to use, very powerful for backup and recovery
Weaknesses: none
Overall Evaluation: This is a great product from norton. It is very easy to use and there are a lot of features I need to go over, like FTP Backup. It may seems to be expensive at first glance. But after the rebates, it is very affordable.
