Strengths: This bulb was a couterfeit from DiscountTVLamps.com!Falsley advertised as genuine Sony part.
Weaknesses: ulb burned up within one month. COUNTERFEIT! Do not buy from this company
Overall Evaluation: Discounttvlamps.com advertised this bulb as a genuine Sony replacement bulb. When I got it, I installed it and it burned out within one month. The connections melted and nearly caused a fire in my TV. A sony authorized repairman came out and replaced it with a real Sony replacement bulb. Once I looked at them side by side, it was obvious they were not the same (even though Discounttvbulbs.com's bulb had Sony stamped on it). BUYER BEWARE!! This company is selling counterfeit bulbs!! I would never shop at Discounttvbulbs.com ever again!

Strengths: Good marketing and apparently someone who works from them writing fake reviews. Search the BBB if you want the true story on this company!
Weaknesses: They are cheap un-branded knock-offs. The longest 2000 hr rated bulb from them lasted just under 500 hours before exploding and the shortest one that was a backup and out of warranty lasted 32 hours before exploding.
Overall Evaluation: Feel free to contact me for documentation and photos of the internals of their products if you would like me to participate with you in a class-action lawsuit; I'm all in for it!!!! This company is the worst I have ever dealt with!!

Strengths: It worked for 1 month
Weaknesses: It ONLY worked for 1 month
Overall Evaluation: Advanced Lamps sent me defective product that burned out after only 1 month and would not return any of my payment. In their defense I had purcheased the DLP lamp several months earlier as a backup. However that doesn't change the fact that Adnvanced Lamps sells inferior products and will not stand behind them.

Overall Evaluation: DO NOT BUY FROM ADVANCED LAMPS!!! They show the item in stock - turns out its not. After you wait a week without any notice, I contacted their help desk by email (no phone number) to get an updated. Was told it was out of stock and to wait for it to be re-stocked. Of course they had no idea as to when this would happend. Proceeded to cancel the order in writing and was in direct communication with them to do this. Then asked for an immediate refund on to my credit card. Within an hour of canceling this order I then get an email that this lamp has suddenly been shipped by UPS. Fact its, it never shiped. In speaking directly with UPS Advanced Lamps filled out the online UPS waybill but the package was never delivered to UPS. Its been over a month and a half now and they no longer respond to requests for a refund. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT DEAL WITH ADVANCED LAMPS THESE GUYS THEY ARE CROOKS!!!!

Strengths: Easy to instal
Weaknesses: None
Overall Evaluation: Glad purchased the lamp with casing. Using the old casing and installing the lamp in it would have been more difficult and possibly result in more chances of incorrect installation, thus lamp failure

Strengths: 1. OEM lamp for SONY SXRD projection TV, manufactured by Phillips. 2. Step-by-step instructions with pictures. 3. Complete unit (lamp pre-installed in housing). 4. VERY easy installation-5 minutes.
Weaknesses: 1. Lifetime about 2 yrs, based on viewing about 6 hrs/day. 2. High cost. 3. Lamp contains mercury, so old lamp must be disposed of properly.
Overall Evaluation: The "lamp replacement light" on the front of our SONY KDS-50A2000 HDTV started blinking, and the TV would not turn on. I consulted the SONY user manual, and found instructions for removing the lamp, which I did. I could see the filament inside the lamp was burned out, so I called SONY, and they quoted $400 for the service call, including the replacement lamp! So next I got on the Internet and searched for a replacement. Some of the suppliers quoted prices of over $200. I found one on PriceGrabber.com for $129. I guessed that this would be the lamp only, not pre-installed in the housing. So I removed the old lamp from its housing - NOT an easy task - and awaited the arrival of the new lamp. I was pleasantly surprised to find this bargain price was for the entire lamp assembly, and I was glad I didn't have to install the new lamp in the old housing. The best part was that this was the Phillips XL-5200, which is the original equipment installed in the SONY, not a cheap imitation. The other positive thing is that the new lamp brings back the brilliance of the TV picture when the set was new. You don't notice it degrading over its lifetime, but you will definitely notice the improvement when you turn on the TV with the new lamp installed! The colors - especially in High Definition - absolutely jump out of the screen at you! While this was a relatively expensive repair, it was much cheaper than the $400 SONY service call. The only downside is the 2-year expected life of the lamp and the need to safely dispose of the old mercury-containing lamp. I'm hoping I can recycle it a Home Depot, which I know accepts compact fluorescent lights (CFLs, which also contain mercury) for recycling.
