Overall Rating: 2 Star Review
Duration of ownership:12 Months
Strengths: Printer works fine
Weaknesses: toner cartridge has to be changed too often, heavy
Overall Evaluation: I have never faced any issues with the printer. It works well without any problem. The cartridge needs to be changed often. When photos are printed, the quality is not so good. It is too heavy to carry. I do not recommend this to others.

Overall Rating: 1 Star Review
Duration of ownership:6 Months
Strengths: It works.
Weaknesses: Only got 100 pdf pages out of the supplied yellow cartridge. Each page printed reduces the toner pages remaining count by about 10 pages. Pictures are too dark, but there is no printer control panel to adjust the setting. To get a good image print it is necessary to manually adjust image brightness in an editor and then print the image several times to get the correct result. With pdf's and web pages there is no way out. Could not print black text Word document when out of yellow toner. The print driver did not have a setting for the type of HP's own laser paper used here.
Overall Evaluation: Avoid this one if images are important.

Overall Rating: 3 Star Review
Duration of ownership:3 Months
Strengths: Image quality is sharp and crisp. Colors are pretty accurate. Networking is a plus.
Weaknesses: Cartridges are expensive and do not come in high yield. Slightly bulky and heavy.
Overall Evaluation: Prints okay. photo quality is not great. looks darker, lower resolution, & less glossy compared to inkjet printer. Since it's a laser printer, large scale photo doesn't look as nice as inkjets, but still does a decent job.The toner usage is the downside. Price is right!

Duration of ownership:5 Days
Strengths: Network ready, separate toner for each color, memory card reader.
Weaknesses: heavy as a ton of bricks, low capacity starter toners.
Overall Evaluation: This printer is very heavy compared to other B/W laser printer. I was very surprised. Then again, compared to my work's color printer (HP Color Laser 1600), it is about the same weight but smaller. I like this printer better (HP CP1518ni) because it is network ready (no need for a printer server). Color print quality is about the same as the HP Color Laser 1600, adequate, but not magazine quality. Photo print still look better on photo inkjet printers. This printer is still very strong in the office for color documents, and proofing photo printing.

Overall Rating: 1 Star Review
Duration of ownership:4 Weeks
Strengths: great print quality and photographic output plus fast
Weaknesses: 750 page "starter" toner cartridges are a waste. HP could have easily put the full capacity 2200 page cartridges in and we'd not have to pay the same price as the printer for 4 new cartridges.
Overall Evaluation: HP has this thing about "starter" ink and "starter" toner.A starter cartridge has all the waste -all the plastic, all the printheads, everything you need to make it work - plus a supply of either ink or toner. Now HP fills starter cartridges 1/3 full so that your printer says "oh dear - you've used all your toner and only printed one ream of paper - time to go spend MORE than you paid for the printer on 4 new cartridges"Of course you throw out the old 1/3 used cartridges in the trash which ends up in the landfill 3 times faster than if HP had put 5 cents more toner inside the cartridge or 4 cents more ink, but its a marketing game they like to play.Don't get me wrong - this is a great printer - I hooked it to the pictbridge of my olympus E3 and did a beautiful print on 8.5 x 11 paper that is just stunning right from the camera - no computer needed. There are four cartridges 1/3 full in the printer - that's a 5 star printer minus 4 stars for the lobotomized cartridges and you get one star. Wake up HP and give the customer a value over your competition.

Overall Rating: 4 Star Review
Duration of ownership:3 Days
Strengths: Low cost after 20% off coupon, on sale $100 off, $5 review bonus, and $100 rebate. Regular $400 retail, I ended up paying $135 + tax.
Weaknesses: Comes with 'starter toners.' These have a max of 750 printed pages vs. 2200 for 'full size toners.' I was told yield is 500 pages. There are four toner cartridges that retail for around $70 each.
Overall Evaluation: If you measure electronics value by weight, this would be a winner at a hefty 40 pounds. Installation on my network was a breeze. You can also use USB2. Cables not included. I like the way paper goes under the printer in a pull out tray and comes out the top without flying to the floor. Other than the $280 + tax to relace the toner cartridges, I am happy with my purchase. Four stars instead of five due to low yield and high price to print.
