Overall Rating: 4 Star Review
Duration of ownership:1 Years
Strengths: Great computer for the price if you do a lot of printing in back ink. The ink last so much longer and prints fast.
Weaknesses: A little bit of curve in the paper.
Overall Evaluation: I would buy another one if this one breaks. it is so cost effective. Great for students!

Duration of ownership:
Strengths: Easy setup, great Bonjour support, fast printing, clear controls
Weaknesses: Rear-side-mounted power button can be inconvenient
Overall Evaluation: My client was very happy with this Brother, which replaced his old pre-USB serial HP. Snapped an Ethernet cable between the printer and CPU, and the printer's great zero-config Bonjour feature caused it to show right up and be immediately usable. Prints as fast as it can feed paper, and the first page is pretty sprightly, too. Extremely Macintosh-compatible as well, with a very good and very standard user interface. I own nothing but Brothers myself, and I recommend them constantly.

Duration of ownership:
Strengths: Very fast, super cheap price on machine and toner.
Weaknesses: Have none to date. Does just what it says it will.
Overall Evaluation: After reading many positive reviews on this printer I decided to purchase for small business use. Constantly buying replacement ink for my ink jet was my push to find a more economical printer. The set up was a snap. The print is EXCELLENT and even on saver mode it prints just fine. It is also very fast and the page curling thing is blown way out of proportion. If black only print is what you need I highly recomend this printer. I also checked into toner replacement for this machine and found it very reasonable on Amazon around $43. You can also get compatable toner in the $32 range around the net. Now at approximately .02 per page you cannot beat this printer. Plus it looks great and takes up a small amount of space. I highly recommend the Brother HL2070N.

Strengths: Easy to assemble and operate. Like the envelope feature.
Weaknesses: Haven't found any yet.
Overall Evaluation: I have no complaints. It has exceeded my expectations. I would recommend this printer to others. The envelope feature pleased me. Just put the #10 envelope in the slot at the front of the printer and print. The printer was recommended by a dealer.

Duration of ownership:6 Months
Strengths: Low cost, Networkable (Web Admin Interface), Small, power save mode, econ toner mode, quick (even when coming out of sleep mode), Low toner warning, PCL 6 support, manual duplex, 16 MB RAM.
Weaknesses: Comes w/a starter cartridge, even w/econo mode enabled, it's only good for 999 pgs (it forces you to replace it). Plastic feels flimsy; feels like it's going to break the paper tray when it opens.
Overall Evaluation: If you can find this printer for less then $100, then grab it! It's a great printer, and well worth it.If you order this printer order an extra cartridge so that you have one on hand. The printer comes with a starter cartridge, even with economy mode enabled, it is only good for 999 pages (at which time it forces you to replace the toner). It does warn you that the toner is getting low (I did not take note of the page count, at the first warning), but after a couple of days telling it to continue (a week at the most) it stopped printing (page count was 999), I print a fair amount, about 500-1000 pages per month (1-2 reams of paper). The starter cartridge was not empty, but I was forced to replace it, not very economical. Because I did not have an extra toner cartridge on hand, and I needed to print, I had to run to the store and buy one, and pay full retail. Ouch! I could have paid half the price online if I had known. It's a great little printer!Plastic on the printer feels flimsy; It feels like I am going to break the paper tray every time I open it. So be gentle. It's not a solid $1000 printer, but the printouts look just as good.I wish it had a PS driver, but it prints PDF fine using the PCL 6 driver that comes on the CD.When you have the manual duplex turned on, it will print the front side of the pages, and then after you reload the paper in the tray, you need to press the resume button on the printer so that it will continue to print the second side.It does not have a paper support for the manual feed slot, so I found it works best to hold the paper until it starts printing, if you use it. When you first load the paper in the manual slot, it pulls it in about 1cm (1/2 inch), and then it's ready to receive the print job.It has a hard time with card stock (If could handle it better if it had a rear exit for the paper). You have to use the manual feed slot or the card stock jams in the paper tray (too thick for the pickup rollers).Great printer! I would definitely buy it again, I paid $129.00 (+Tax and Shipping), and I would buy it in a heart beat for under $100.

Duration of ownership:
Strengths: Price, Quality, features and compact design. Supported by PCs and Macs. Best Printer for light weight network printing.
Weaknesses: None so far
Overall Evaluation: The best small size network printer that can be controlled both on a Mac and PC. I have worked with a lot of different printers through out the years. The power savings works well, my old printer (HP 2100) used to stay on and make weird noise in power save. Price is very reasonable for the features. I was able to set it up on the network real fast and documentation is real good. If you want full tweak and control over the printer and printer network settings you can also do that with a little more effort. Print speed is fast and quality of print is excellent.

Duration of ownership:
Strengths: Price, Network Interface, Prinout quality
Weaknesses: Manual paper guides, Power Flickers
Overall Evaluation: I just bought this printer, which was on sale at buy.com for $89. For that price, this printer cannot be beat. The print quality is great and the network interface is extremely easy to set up. Although it is a great printer, it does have a couple things that could be improved upon. First of all, the guides for the manual feed are a joke. Luckily I will not be using that feature. They are so loose that you must hold them in place to use them. The biggest problem is the amount of power consumption. This printer replaced a LaserJet 1012, and that printer would also cause the lights to flicker when the fuser was warming up. The Brother, on the other hand, causes my UPS to switch on and off multiple times while printing. It has even caused the UPS to trip. Plugging the printer directly into the wall seemed to fix the problem. I highly recommend this printer to anyone who needs a basic networkable laser printer. The print quality is great and the cartridges prices are reasonable. Just get used to the flickering lights.

Duration of ownership:20 Days
Strengths: Fast & quiet for the price.
Weaknesses: No stop printing job button. Manual feed has to be held in place while feeding paper in.
Overall Evaluation: Having no stop-printing button causes waste of time and paper. I usually have to pull out the paper tray instead. The manual feed is the worse thing. I have never heard of a manual feed guides that have to be held in place to feed paper. That is totally inefficient and the results are usually skewed products.

Duration of ownership:7 Days
Strengths: Excellent print quality, fast startup, comes with 16mb memory(needed for graphics), I like the ability to configure via the internet.
Weaknesses: None
Overall Evaluation: I replaced an Epson Action Laser II with this printer. The Brother isn't quite as solidly built, but then almost nothing is built as solidly today as it was 10 years ago. In my opinion you can't get a better deal on a laser printer with built in networking. (Office Depot has a $40 rebate which dropped my price to $129) A tip - be sure to install the software on ALL computers using the printer. As to comments about the paper curl, there is some very slight curling, but most people probably wouldn't notice it. Plus, the curl will go away. Someone mentioned that they had problems printing on envelopes that have the plastic windows. This is probably true, especially since the manual specifically says not to use this type of envelope. All in all, I'd highly recommend this unit.
