Duration of ownership:2 Months
Strengths: Small size, great design.
Weaknesses: Very poor photo quality without a flash.
Overall Evaluation: While photo quality in strong light is good, I am very disappointed in low light photography without a flash. The camera has a "blur warning" which you have to turn off since basically anytime you take a picture without the flash it says "Photo is blurred, discard?". And indeed, the photos you take will be blurred. Also the flash is quite weak and is good only for close-up pictures.

Duration of ownership:4 Months
Strengths: Small size, smooth contours, large LCD
Weaknesses: LCD not great in bright light, especially since there is no optical viewfinder
Overall Evaluation: A pocket camera is not a pocket camera when it will not tolerate the pocket environment. In four months, my Coolpix S1 has twice suffered the disabling "Lens Cover Error", the first time after only one month of use. The diagnosis from Nikon's warranty repair service was sand and corrosion in the mechanism. My last pocket camera never failed during four years of continuous pocket carriage, and it is in backup use again. I am in the market now for a new pocket camera.

Duration of ownership:1 Weeks
Strengths: Form factor, scene modes, lcd size
Weaknesses: Common flaws in cameras of this size and you must charge battery while its in the camera.
Overall Evaluation: I have had this camera for a couple weeks and thus far I am quite happy. It was a tough choice between the Sony T7 and the SD powershot's but I wanted a 2.5 LCD and based on some feedback from a friend and the price, I went with the S1. So far I have very little complaints. Obviously a camera of this size will suffer from common quality issues, but overall I must say I am quite pleased with the purchase. I thought at first the scene modes would be useless, but thus far they seemed to be very helpful. The redeye reduction (digital) also is very impressive.

Strengths: Small size is great. Pictures look awesome. LCD is huge.
Weaknesses: Can it be too small?
Overall Evaluation: This is a great camera. Very small and takes amazing photos. Fits in your pocket easily and is very protable. Uses SD media which is very nice and affordable. Software supplied with the camera is very easy to use and is great. I upgraded from a Nikon coolpix 4300 and I am very happy, as I always have been with Nikon products. A+

Duration of ownership:4 Days
Strengths: size, look, picture quality (given the size of its lens), ease of use, 5mega pixel, nikkor ed lens
Weaknesses: picture quality is not the best i've seen. nikon 4500 and even 2100 looked better than this, but they're also much bigger.
Overall Evaluation: a really nice small camera. i chose this over sony because i think Nikkor lens is much more superior than Sony lens and Carl Zeiss lens. I've always been a loyal follower of nikon and always like the picture quality. this being its very first camera with its slimline design to compete with Sony's DSC-T1, i am very impressed with it, and like it for what it is. image quality is excellant considering the size of the lens, and that it's not retractable like the Canon. but it is a good camera at a reasonable price, and uses SD card! this is a great camera if you just want a point and shoot digital camera that fit in your pocket.

Overall Rating: 3 Star Review
Duration of ownership:7 Days
Strengths: beautiful design; very easy in use; a lot of useful features.
Weaknesses: red eye reduction does not always work very well; approximately 10% of the pictures have round hazy spots.
Overall Evaluation: most pictures are fairly good and sharp. So far the nature of the mentioned above hazy spots is not clear, but professionals say that it's a camera defect. If that's indeed the case I wouldn't recommend to purchase this camera.
