  Overall Evaluation: I am very satisfied with the performance of this slingbox. Unlike the new version, Slingbox tuner or Slingbox TV, this classic version has three video source input. NTSC Cable input, S-Video, and AV-in. You can use AV-input to connect the home secure cam/CCD, so you can monitor the place while you are out of home. This is a great product.

  Weaknesses: Can be difficult to configure network if you have a complicated dual-network router system at home

  Overall Evaluation: The Slingbox is an amazing, must have device for all television and DVR lovers. It allows you to "place shift" your television signal so that you can watch it anywhere you have a broadband Internet connection. The best part about it is that the product truly meets up to its marketing claims. The Slingbox can be difficult to install if you have MORE than one network router in your house, but otherwise, its as easy as suggested. Streaming video quality is great. Control of popular cable boxes and DVR's (both TIVO and ReplayTV) is seamless. All necessary components are also included in the box, such as cables and IR emitters for controlling your cable box and DVR's. Suggested improvements: (1) continue to improve video stream quality, (2) deliver multi-channel stereo/surround audio, and (3) improve resolution and screen size capabilities over time.

  Overall Evaluation: The Slingmedia is very easy to setup and the help menu system is very good. One needs to find out which access points as well as which bridges are compatible with Slinmedia in order to avoid using a cat 5 cable between box and access point. I called customer support and they were responsive. The only product of its kind on the market.

  Weaknesses: Requires a good broadband connection above 256Kbs on other end.

  Overall Evaluation: If you are a television worshipper the Slingbox is an electronic gadget that will be on your must have list. It gives you the ability to program the DVR remotely, watch shows that are either currently playing or watch shows from your DVR. Setup wasn't overly difficult and the quality of the steaming video was very good. The only downfall was that a 256 download speed on the Internet connection needed to be upgraded to the next level for optimum viewing. Slingbox is for anyone who needs their television shows on demand wherever they may be.

  Weaknesses: audio bit rate could be cranked up a bit but this is easily remedied in future firmware, software player...otherwise, this box is simple awesome!

  Overall Evaluation: This slingbox device is really great and clever. with the popups of all these various wireless hotspots, as well as the the future decline in prices of cellular data plans, you will be able to watch your tv from anywhere, imagine sports anywhere! your local news anywhere! you can be anywhere literally. the software is nice too and future upgrades will have the ability to install to a flash disk so you can plug n' play your tv without having to install the software on the computer if you are not using a notebook. i got this device as a present, others have talked about watching tv from the internet plans on airplanes! imagine sports 36,000 feet in the air!The sling community is what makes this such a good value, the sling people are active in the forums and hearing what you want/dont want in future slingbox firmware/software upgrades. the software player is constantly being upgraded and being improved upon. i highly recommend this, in fact, i am deciding to buy another slingbox to hook up more devices. you can already control several inputs with one slingbox!

  Strengths: + Fairly easy to setup+ Software updates available online+ Decent quality if you have good bandwidth+ Works with ReplayTV, Tivo, cable boxes, and more

  Weaknesses: - Need to make sure you have a good connection to the internet- No Mac client!

  Overall Evaluation: I set up my Slingbox before going to visit my folks and was excited to be able to control my ReplayTV from across the country.The quality is pretty good considering I have basic DSL. The software setup was very straightforward.I'm also glad that the software on the device can be updated, so hopefully it will be able to interface with new DVRs, satellite boxes, etc. as they come along.I wish they had a Mac client, however. It's supposed to be on the way.

  Overall Evaluation: Overall, the product is very good. Very easy to install and includes all necessary installation hardware. Great idea to watch tv from just about anywhere. However, the control box looks alittle funky.

  Strengths: Enables the most direct control of my Tivo box from where I am.

  Weaknesses: Limited by broadband speed limitations where you are at the time.

  Overall Evaluation: Another reviewer used his to watch Texas Longhorn football from anywhere in the world. Except when they are beaten by their crimson rivals in the course of an ordinary October, there is no reason to watch the Longhorns. Regardless, that is a good example of one of the uses. I had an extra Tivo box that I was not going to use much since I have a DirecTV HDTV DVR now on top of two other Tivo boxes, however, the ability to watch TV on the road and keep in touch with home is amazing. I can control every Tivo function from the road, including erasing programs. Tivo2 options enable me to access the other Tivo units' programming, though not hooked up directly to the Slingbox, albeit without the control I exercise on the Slingbox enabled unit. It was easy to install after I went to the product's website to get the code of the Tivo unit I have, a manufactuer which was not one of the common options offered in set-up, but one which was an option through a second remote code setting option offered. It is a great toy that gets a great picture and sound on my new laptop computer with my broadband connection.

  Overall Evaluation: This is a terrific invention. No hard drives, no subscription fees. Simply connect SlingBox between your TiVo or ReplayTV and your broadband router (also works with cable or satellite box).Install the SlingBox software on your laptop, connect to the internet from anywhere in the world (broadband connection REQUIRED) and you can watch your favorite live or recorded programs. Keep in mind, if your internet connection is slow, SlingBox will be a terrible disappointment.I've used it on the road even in China to watch my favorite shows recorded on ReplayTV back in Texas. I used it to watch live coverage of Hurricane Katrina and watch live Texas Longhorn football. I highly recommend the slingbox!

  Overall Evaluation: I'm a big fan of the slingbox--like many others who have brought the product I heard about it from word-of-mouth from my friends.The slingbox is a device that lets you watch TV on your laptop anywhere you are. It streams the TV from your cable box, TiVo, ComCast DVR, or any other device onto your PC. It only supports Windows PCs--no linux or Mac OS X support yet.The slingbox works; I've used it at the airport, at work--anywhere where I have a spare 1/2 hr to watch shows from my TiVo.Great device at a great price! Plus no monthly subscription fees either.
