Martial arts actor Jet Li called upon people around the world to use the Internet to support the causes that are important to them, he said Saturday in a presentation in China.

Appearing on stage with CEO Jack Ma, Li discussed his charity, the One Foundation, which he established in partnership with the Red Cross Society of China. One Foundation asks people to donate one yuan (US$0.15) or one dollar per month. Li said that Chinese users abroad could continue to use Alibaba's payment system to support the foundation.

"In every corner of the world, you find Chinese people. In the future, these people could use something like Alipay or another technology to support the causes that are close to them," Li said.

Li spoke at the Second APEC Business Advisory Council SME Summit in Hangzhou, which runs through Sunday.
