ProteMac has announced the release of ProteMac Meter, a network activity monitor and traffic logging utility for Mac O SX. It costs $29.95 for a single-user license. A download is available.

ProteMac Meter lets you control network activity for each individual application running on your Mac. It shows you what data was transmitted and where it was transmitted to. Using ProteMac Meter, you can audit what flows in and out of your Mac.

The software displays real-time data on processes that are running over the network, and shows the history of each network activity. Data collected includes application network connections, host availability, remote host name, incoming and outgoing traffic amounts per connection or app, time stamps of first and last activity and much more. The traffic summary information can be displayed in speed graph and traffic totals.

System requirements call for Mac OS X 10.4 or later and 12.4MB hard disk space.
