Karelia Software has announced the release of Sandvox 1.5, a "major upgrade" to the company's visual Web site editing software for the Mac. Sandvox 1.5 is a free upgrade for registered users, and costs $49 for the "Regular" version or $79 for the "Pro" version.
Sandvox is aimed at users who want to create a visually appealing Web site without having to understand the intricacies of HTML or CSS. The software uses templates that enable you to drag and drop content into place, including text, pictures and media. You can use it to create a business site, blog, post podcasts and more. The Pro version adds the ability to use customized HTML with your Sandvox projects, Google Webmaster Tools, e-commerce, Flash and more.
Sandvox 1.5, in development for 16 months, according to Karelia, adds dozens of new features and more than 150 improvements in total, as well as performance enhancements.
The new release sports major improvements to media processing, improves pagelet support with 19 to choose from including an enhanced Contact Form and new YouTube pagelet; adds seven new designs and enhances existing designs, bringing the total to 50; adds new blogging features like a Collection Archives pagelet, auto-navigation links between entries and a "continue reading" link; improves the inspector to allow editing of multiple pages simultaneously; improves compatibility with MobileMe; adds new document format support; and incorporates new "Code Injection" points for pro users.
Sandvox 1.5 requires Mac OS X 10.4 or later.
