Apple on Tuesday released QuickTime 7.5.5 and Front Row 2.1.6. Both updates are available for download from the Software Update system preference.

Both updates are required for the iTunes 8 software, also released on Tuesday. iTunes 8 adds new browsing features to iTunes, a new "Genius" capability that offers suggestions for music that complements what you're listening to, and the ability to download and watch HD television shows, now available for purchase for US$2.99 per episode.

QuickTime 7.5.5 is recommended for all QuickTime 7 users, and includes changes that increase reliability, improve application compatibility and enhance security, according to Apple.

Front Row 2.1.6 provides improved iTunes 8.0 compatibility and bug fixes.
