Nemetschek North America on Monday announced the 2009 release of their Vectorworks line of design software. The products include Designer, Architect, Landmark, Spotlight, Machine Design, Fundamentals and Renderworks.

New to the 2009 edition is a faster engine that provides 4 to 5 times the performance of the previous software for modeling operations. Usability, 3D modeling and workflow optimization has also been improved.

All told, Nemetschek counts more than 70 new features in the 2009 release of its CAD software for Mac OS X and Windows. New features include similar object creation; improvements to plant population in landscape areas; reference deletion improvements; eyedropper support for design layer viewpoints; improved offset insertion mode for 2D symbols; automatic universe assignment; drag and drop import; DWG/DXF 2009 import and export; real-time Lightwright import and export; PDF snapping; editing mode improvements and more.
