Circus Ponies Software has announced the release of Notebook 3.0, a major new release of its organization software for Mac OS X. It costs US$49.95 with upgrades priced at $19.95 through the end of October.

Previewed in January, Notebook 3.0 helps you organize information using a notebook interface. You can add text, drag in files and folders, clip Web research, mail messages and other content to your pages, annotate information with sketches, drawings and diagrams, add highlights and keywords to make it easier to find later. You can also add voice annotations. And you can protect it all with passwords, covers and encryption.

New features in 3.0 brings diagramming and sketching capabilities. A new PDF annotation feature lets you add PDF content direct to your notebook, which you can then mark up with sketches, diagrams and text of your own. What's more, Notebook 3.0 now features handwriting recognition.

System requirements call for Mac OS X 10.4.11 or later, G3 or better (including Intel), 256MB RAM.
