Quark has introduced Quark Publishing System 8, QuarkCopyDesk8 and QuarkXPress Server 8--new versions of its suite of enterprise software for businesses that base their page layout and publishing workflow around QuarkXPress 8. Quark Publishing System 8 will be available in the fourth calendar quarter of 2008.
Quark Publishing System 8 is designed for marketing departments, creative agencies, magazine and newspaper publishers who need to manage a publishing workflow. Leveraging QuarkXPress 8, the software enables companies to develop a network-based method of seeing work through from conception to output, with several stops along the way. QuarkCopyDesk 8 is text and picture editing software, while QuarkXPress Server 8 acts as the composition and rendering engine.
New features in Quark Publishing System 8 include an adapter for Alfresco Enterprise 2, an open-source content management system; user interface support for 13 languages, and hyphenation and spell-checking for more than 30 languages; improved asset management using QPS Connect Client, now supporting multi-page preview, multiple asset check-in, metadata tagging, custom grouping and full text search; QPS Web Hub support for East Asian languages; and support for native Adobe Illustrator file formats, so you don't have to switch between QuarkXPress and Illustrator for editing.
