At Namco Bandai's pre-TGS news conference we got a chance to see a little of the upcoming "Splatterhouse" that's heading to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles.

The game follows college student Rick Taylor in a race through the spooky West Mansion as he tries to rescue his girlfriend, Jennifer, from all-manner of creatures. A mask promises the ability to help him find his girlfriend but also transforms him into "a juggernaut of pure violence and destruction," as Namco Bandai put it.

The company shared a glimpse of the newly-ressurected game through a 10 second trailer that resembled a scene from the horror movie Hostel. The opening shot focused on a cold silver steel table full of bloody torture gear such as knives, ice picks, and a big, fat club. In the background is Jennifer, pleading to be saved. Then it moves on to show Rick fighting his way around the enemies using one of the weapons from the table.

Not much at all to judge the game on but it doesn't look like it will be one for the faint-hearted.

Look for it sometime in 2009.
