A report from Edge Online suggests that Gears of War 2 has hit the 3 million sold milestone just one month after the game's release. The news was speculated by Microsoft Game Studios' Phil Spencer in a recent podcast, and confirmed by Epic's Mark Rein.

Gears of War 2's sales look like they will probably eclipse the original's already stellar sales.

Gears 2 hit 3 million within 4 weeks, as opposed to Gears 1, which took ten weeks. The original sold 5 million copies and is currently the second best selling Xbox 360 of all time, according to Wikipedia. The top title? Halo 3, with 8 million, which sold over 3 million copies its first week. Looks like Master Chief and Marcus Fenix are about to engage in a rough battle.
