Gaming has had a diminished presence at Macworld Expo in recent years. But that's not stopping us from assembling a panel of Mac gaming luminaries for this special Expo edition of the Macworld Podcast.

Join me and assistant editor Chris Holt as we talk to Bruce Morrison of Freeverse Software, Ned Coker of CCP Games, and Lucas Smithen of TransGaming. We're joined later in the podcast by David Stephen of Feral Interactive.

We talk about developing games for the Mac as well as the iPhone. We also look at the future of Macworld Expo from the perspective of gaming companies, and we assess what the changes to the MacBook's graphic processor have meant to Mac gaming.

We mention a number of games during the podcast. Bruce Morrison talks about the iPhone games Freeverse is working on, including Slots Racer, Days of Thunder, Flick Baseball, and Roads of Ruin.

CCP games makes EVE Online, a massively-multiplayer online game set in space. It came to the Mac with the help of TransGaming's Cider translation technology. Another TransGaming effort, City of Heroes, emerged from beta this week.

David Stephen talks about a number of recent and upcoming Feral releases including Sid Meier's Pirates, Rome: Total War, the recently released Lego Indiana Jones, and Lego Batman.

Our MacBook discussion centers around last fall's addition of Nvidia 9400M graphics to the MacBook, which improved the performance of graphic-intensive games on Apple's consumer laptops.
