Apple on Wednesday released an update for its multimedia software, QuickTime.

According to notes accompanying the update, QuickTime 7.6 contains updates to both audio and video components. For video, it improves single-pass H.264 encoding quality and it increases the playback reliability of Motion JPEG media.

On the audio side it improves AAC encoding fidelity and audio tracks from MPEG video files now export consistently.
