Humble Daisy on Monday announced the release of ProfCast 2.5.0, an update to their lecture recording and podcast creation software for Mac OS X. A free update for registered users, ProfCast is priced at $60. A 15-day demo version is available for download.

Developed for educators, ProfCast helps simplify the recording of lectures and their conversion into a podcast. It can be used for special events and presentations, as well. Features include ID3 tag embedding, integrated podcast management, export to GarageBand, share with iWeb, URL linking and audio playthrough support. It can synchronize audio with slides, Keynote and PowerPoint presentations, and publishes presentations complete with RSS data.

The new 2.5 release includes bug fixes and the ability to export recordings in .m4v format. MPEG-4 video formats are commonly used in file sharing and social networking sites.

System requirements call for Mac OS X 10.4 or later, 500MB hard disk space, G4/667MHz or faster, Keynote 2.0 or later, PowerPoint 2004 or 2008, and Internet connection.
