Mariner Software has announced the release of MacGourmet Deluxe, its recipe and wine management software for Mac OS X. A free update for registered users, MacGourmet Deluxe costs US$45.

MacGourmet Deluxe is like an iTunes for recipes -- it lets you create, edit and share recipes, organize cooking and wine notes, plan meals, create and print your own cookbook.

The new 1.2 release features access to the latest information in the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) database, to help you calculate the nutritional value of recipes and nutritional info per serving.

The Mealplan feature lets you plan meals ahead, and version 1.2 lets you toggle the meals list to hide or show them. You can mark special meal days -- family nights, or when you're expecting guests, for example -- using the Day Labels feature, then sync with iCal. You can also copy and paste or drag and drop recipes into Mealplan, add personal notes, comments and stories while you're building your cookbook, and more.

System requirements call for Mac OS X 10.4 or later.
