Blackmagic Design has announcd the release of Converter Utility 1.0 for Mac OS X and Windows. It's free for users of Blackmagic Design Mini Converter devices.
Aimed at video professionals, Mini Converters are dedicated hardware devices that enable Mac and Windows users to build a Serial Digital Interface (SDI) studio. They automatically switch between Standard Definition (SD) and High Definition (HD) and are available in a variety of types: SDI to Analog, SDI to HDMI, Sync Generators and more. They're priced from $295 to $995 depending on features.
The Converter Utility 1.0 software adds new features and capabilities, such as an HD down converter in the Mini Converter SDI to Analog model, and support for 1080p/50/60 via 3Gb/sec SDI on the Mini Converter SDI to HDMI model.
The software also makes use of built-in USB connections on all Mini Converter models, to allow adjustments and settings to be changed, including video and audio levels.
