A new video of the Android build for the new HTC Hero surfaced over the weekend. Is it me or does this take a few visual cues from Palm's Pre WebOS?

The video below shows a redesigned music player, web browser, calendar and a slicker interface. The rounded corners and color scheme certainly seem like someone on the User Interface team is a fan of the Palm Pre.

Compare that with the look and feel of the Palm Pre (below).

You know what they say about imitation being the sincerest form of flattery? Perhaps the industry is tired of copying the iPhone.

Other interesting points on this video:

  • There are also new features like a login / logout menu for "social networks" in the settings menu.
  • This could be the upcoming look and feel of Android 2.0 (Doughnut)
  • HTC could be trying to differentiate now that devices like the Samsung i7500 are about to hit the streets
