Coming Soon: Windows 7 Touch Gestures, nVidia Ion Graphics
When Windows 7 officially launches on October 22, expect to see it showcased on a number of new multitouch all-in-one PCs. The ones to look for include MSI's 21.6-inch Wind Top AE2201 (equipped with nVidia Ion graphics; pictured), in addition to the Acer Aspire Z5600 and Gateway One ZX6800 (both 23 inches). You'll be able to use iPhone-like finger pinch gestures, flick forward and backward, hold down one finger then tap another for a right-click menu, tap two fingers to zoom, and more. Cool stuff, but clearly single-touch all-in-ones won't be able to take full advantage of the multifinger gestures. We don't know at this stage if the several new single-touch all-in-ones looming on the horizon will run the new OS or stick to Vista. Asus will finally update its lineup with the Eee Top ET2203T (21.5 inches) and the nVidia Ion-equipped ET2002T (20 inches). Also in the works are two 20-inchers from MSI.
Finally, if you want Windows 7 on the Lenovo IdeaCentre A600, HP TouchSmart IQ500t or IQ816, Sony VAIO VGC-LV180J, or Dell Studio One 19 all-in-ones in this roundup, there's no need to wait until October. These models should qualify for each company's free Windows 7 upgrade program.
