HootSuite uses columns to show various Twitter feeds. Here, it is monitoring the accounts I am following, doing a search for mentions of e-book readers, and keeping track of a group of accounts named Tech.

Mixero uses a different type of interface than most Twitter clients. Your current feed is shown on the left. If you want to switch to a different one, you click on one of the icons in the center "ActiveList."
In the PeopleBrowsr "Advanced Mode," a variety of features are available by clicking icons on the top and bottom of your window.
Seesmic Desktop lets you save Twitter searches and user lists and then easily access them via the menu on the left side of the window.
TweetDeck also allows you to scan several Twitter feeds via multiple columns. The entry field on top can be hidden to save space.
"TweetGrid" offers a quick and simple method for checking a variety of Twitter searches without having to install software or even have an account.
TwitScoop lets you monitor what tweeters are talking about moment by moment. The cloud of topics at the right constantly shifts and changes.
Twitterfall offers a virtual "waterfall" of tweets. It uses color to help you distinguish between searches. For example, all my work-related searches are in gray, while a search for the topic "RIP Mary Travers" is in purple.
