Deals of the Week

Some refurbished Macs and an HDTV/Blu-ray bundle make this week's deals look pretty sweet.

Refurbished Macs for Up to $520 Off

If you were a bit disillusioned with Apple's Black Friday Sale ($101 off on a MacBook Pro? I saved $150 with my student discount!), you may want to go check out the company's refurb section, where right now Mac computers are on sale for up to $520 off, or discounts of up to 28 percent. A refurbished 13.3-inch MacBook Pro with a 160GB hard drive, a 2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, and 2GB of RAM is going for just $999 ($200 off), and a refurbished iMac (with a 24-inch screen, 2.93GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, a 640GB hard drive, and 4GB of memory) is going for $1279 ($520 off).

Samsung 52-Inch HDTV + Samsung Blu-ray Player for $1326

So you didn't feel like waiting in the Best Buy line for three hours to pick up an HDTV? No problem--Amazon is offering a pretty sweet Samsung HDTV and Blu-ray Disc player bundle. The Samsung 52-inch LN52B630 features full 1080p resolution, 120Hz Auto Motion Plus, an 80,000:1 contrast ratio, four HDMI ports, and two USB ports; it currently retails for about $1488. The Samsung BD-P1600 Blu-ray player delivers good Blu-ray playback (besting the PlayStation 3 by a slim margin), and vibrant, saturated colors. The BD-P1600 is one of the fastest Blu-ray players we've tested, and currently retails for about $129. Amazon gives you both as a bundle, for $1326.50 + free shipping, nearly $300 less than what you'd pay if you bought each separately.

Canon EOS Rebel T1i Camera Bundle for $801

Abe's of Maine is offering a Canon EOS Rebel T1i digital camera in a bundle for $800.95, which is a pretty good deal when you consider what you get. The Canon EOS Rebel T1i is a 15.1-megapixel DSLR that comes with a standard 18mm-to-55mm lens. It also shoots full 1080p HD video at 20 frames per second, and 720p video at 30 fps. Abe's is also throwing in a Canon Pixma Pro9000 Mark II Printer, which brings the total to about $1215.90 with free shipping. However, if you use both the coupon code "dnews15" and a $400 mail-in rebate, you'll end up spending just a dollar over $800--not bad.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS25S for $152

Sixth Avenue Electronics has the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS25S for just $152.28 (plus free shipping), if you enter coupon code "BONUSBUY." The 12.1-megapixel camera boasts a 5X optical zoom, a 29mm wide-angle Leica lens, and a 3-inch LCD. It also features face detection, image stabilization, and automatic brightness adjustment for the LCD. (Though we haven't reviewed the FS25S, we have reviewed its sibling, the FS25). As it normally retails for about $189, $152.28 is a pretty good deal.

Lexmark Z45SE Color Jetprinter for $11.52

If you can't decide whether you need a printer...or two cups of coffee...maybe you should go for the printer (or the coffee--you decide!). Amazon has the Lexmark Z45SE Color Jetprinter on sale for a whopping $11.52. That's right: eleven dollars and fifty-two cents (plus $2.95 shipping). This ridiculously cheap printer features 4800 dots per inch, prints 15 pages per minute (black & white), and is both PC- and Mac-compatible.
