Think you're really good at the Rock Band video game and want to show the world? Here’s your chance to prove it and perform along with professional singers.
MTV Games and Cedar Fair Entertainment Co. have teamed up on a summer-long experience called “Rock Band Live”, which will travel across nine different Cedar Fair amusement parks. The stage show features talented singers from across the country, but will also allow audience members who are proficient in the game Rock Band to compete for a chance to play along with the band at the event.
Prior to each show, guests can play the video game and compete against others with the guitar, bass and drum accessories. Whoever gets the top score is then invited on stage during the live show to play the songs on Rock Band instruments along with the live singers. The show will include several songs from the Rock Band video games, ranging from classic to contemporary rock, MTV Games says.
The tour starts in Dorney Park in Allentown, Pa., on Memorial Day weekend. A summer-long series will begin in May and June at Canada’s Wonderland and Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio.
I’m pretty sure that my expertise on the medium level on the guitar (don’t even get me started about how bad I am on drums) will mean that I wouldn’t get very far on such a competition, but I like the idea of showcasing the really good video game musician talent that must be out there.
