The BBC is giving "Doctor Who" fans the chance to download four free "interactive episodes" in which they can control the actions of the Doctor and his assistant Amy.

The four games that make up "Doctor Who: The Adventure Games" feature digital recreations of Matt Smith and Karen Gillian who play the Doctor and his sidekick in the TV series.

The games also include voice-overs by the cast, along with music created by the show's composer Murray Gold.

According to the BBC the 'interactive episodes' have been designed to complement the current series of the TV show and players will encounter a combination of classic and never-seen-before locations and monsters.

"Children don't just watch Doctor Who -- they join in. They make up games, invent their monsters, create their own stories," says Steven Moffat, head writer and executive producer of Doctor Who."Now they can be the Doctor in brand new episodes. Doctor Who: The Adventure Games will offer fans of the Doctor a unique opportunity to enter his world, face his challenges and grapple with his deadliest foes.

Simon Nelson, head of BBC Multiplatform in Vision added that the "interactive episodes" were aimed the broad audience of TV show which encompasses at least three generations.

"We're aiming to encourage the family to gather round the PC or Mac in the same way they do the television. Driving computer literacy is a keystone of the BBC's public service remit and we expect Doctor Who: The Adventure Games to be hugely popular in the homes of Britain this year."The first episode of Doctor Who: The Adventure Games will be available to download for PC and Mac in June.The BBC has previously made Doctor Who games available via iTunes.
