So here's the deal: a lot of folks are predicting there will be a new iPhone this year. Boy Genius Report is adding some fuel to the fire by reporting AT&T has blocked employees from taking vacations in the month of June.

The site cites multiple AT&T sources have confirmed the break-ban and adds, "The only time AT&T does a straight block like this is for iPhone launches."

Fair enough, but predicting an iPhone update will launch in June or July is kind of like predicting that Thanksgiving will be in November; there's precedent for it.

The original iPhone was released on June 29, 2007, followed by the iPhone 3G on July 11, 2008; and the iPhone 3G S on June 19, 2009.

Apple has thrown a curveball by not announcing dates for the 2010 Worldwide Developers Conference, which has been used to out the past two iPhone models.

Back in December a few sites, including AppleInsider, predicted that Apple's event would fall on the week of June 28 due to a "Corporate Event" booking at Apple's typical venue. Already, some images have leaked out that purport to be the next model of iPhone.

If AT&T is, in fact, preventing employees from taking leave in June, it could mean that Apple's announcement will happen pre-WWDC, or that the December predictions are wrong.

Let's hope we get official word from Apple soon, or things may get out of hand.
