Twitter announced on Monday that it will begin sending its users a weekly email digest. According to the Twitter blog, the digest will "feature the most relevant Tweets and stories shared by the people you’re connected to on Twitter." I'll just let that sink in for a minute... Twitter, the future of personal communications, is going to use that 30-year old communications format to devlier the stuff you would have already seen if you were looking at your Twitter account.

I'm not sure what the point of this email digest is, and you may not be either, but if you don't take action you can expect it in your inbox. That's right, Twitter is enabling this digest by default. If you don't want to receive it, it's pretty easy to disable.

All you have to do is go to the notification settings page, and look for the last option on the Updates section, "A weekly digest of Stories and Tweets from my network". Un-check that box and to lighten the load on your inbox.

The last checkbox will disable Twitter's email digest.
