If you've haven’t gotten your fill of Minesweeper achievements on your copy of Windows 8 RTM, now you can play Centipede with your brand new IE 10 browser. Atari has remade eight of its classic games—including Pong, Asteroids, and Lunar Lander—using HTML5.

According to Joystiq, Atari Arcade lets you play modernized versions of Atari classics on any supported browser for free. Running the games using Internet Explorer 10 on one of those fancy new Windows 8 devices grants you some special touch controls—and an ad-free experience.

What’s more is that if you know your way around HTML5 and JavaScript, you can develop and publish your own arcade games though the Atari Arcade.

The Atari Arcade is a joint partnership between Atari and Microsoft to celebrate Pong’s 40th birthday. Atari plans to release more of its classic titles in the future for free as well. Good deal.
