Have you ever wanted to take that giant replica of Nyan Cat that you built in Minecraft and plop it down in your neighborhood? No? That’s just me? Well regardless, Mojang has teamed up with 13th Lab to make this dream a reality with the augmented reality iOS app Minecraft Reality.
Minecraft Reality works a lot like other AR apps: You use the camera on your iOS device to track your surroundings, and the app will project any of your limitless Minecraft creations on to the environment. Once the app projects an object, you can change its size and walk around it to examine it from different angles.
Check out a video of the app in action, and decide for yourself whether this is some of the best use of augmented reality yet (I totally think it is):
To sweeten the deal even further, the app also uses GPS to keep track of where other Minecraft Reality users have placed their creations around the world. When you open the app, you just might be treated to someone else’s meme-fueled creation before your very eyes!
Minecraft Reality is available now for $2 on the App Store. Set your blocky creations free!
