Esbend Kolind

When the organizers behind Lego World 2013 show in Denmark put the call out for "world class" Lego creations, they certainly got what they were asking for. Esbend Kolind's gorgeous model of Islands Byrgge Metro Station isn't just spectacular, it's a little bit of mechanical magic.

The fourth in a line of trains with automatic doors that Esbend has built over the years, this replica is made from Lego Mindstorms NXT and Lego Technic components, along with a whole bunch of other cool stuff, such as distance sensors, light sensors, touch sensors, doors that can automatically slide open and shut (just like the real thing!), and even a working elevator because, you know, there's no way this wasn't impressive enough already.

As The Brothers Brick point out, Esbend has certainly done some massively awe-inspiring things with Lego blocks over the years, many of which involve trains and other transportation elements, but this could be his best creation yet. I mean, just look at that video!
