In an era when corporate news outlets compete to be the first to release breaking news updates, only one--The Onion--manages to report the news before it happens. With features such as "News from the Year 2137," "Girl Raised From Birth by Wolf Blitzer Taken Into Protective Custody," "New Google Phone Service Whispers Targeted Ads Directly Into Users' Ears," and "Apple Introduces Revolutionary New Laptop With No Keyboard," the Onion News Network has rightfully asserted its preeminent place among America's finest faux news networks.

Until recently, Android-using fans of the Onion News Network had to make do with text-only content; but those drab days are over, thanks to the arrival of the Onion News Network app. With ONN you can search, view, and share (via e-mail or Facebook) the entire catalog of ONN video content, which is fairly unbalanced and thoroughly hilarious.

The app interface is simple and straightforward. The top of the screen has a navigation bar with four tabs: Recent, Shows, Editor's Picks, and HTC. The HTC tab is all advertisements, you're left with three interesting tabs. The Recent tab displays a chronological list of video clips. Shows is divided into six sub-sections: ONN, Today Now!, In the Know with Clifford Banes, OSN, O-SPAN, and Tech Trends. Editor's Picks are (perhaps random) selections from the archives.

The Menu key provides three more options: Search, Popular, and Info. The Info option allows you to report bugs, request additional features, or share the app with your friends.

In my tests, ONN performed flawlessly. Video was crisp with no stuttering, search results were relevant, and sharing worked as advertised.

If you are unfamiliar with the Onion News Network, you should be forewarned that some videos contain profanity or other potentially offensive content--gleefully so, in many cases--so use at your own discretion.
