ElectionCaster

ElectionCaster is a must-have news app for people who love politics. It separates the news into four categories--National, Local, Blogs, and Polls--and presents everything in a clean and easy-to-read manner.

The National category includes top tweets, top news, and commentary. Tapping any of the headlines gives you a snippet about the article, as well as options to view the full original article, save it for later reading, and share it using the app of your choice. Saving stories comes in handy when you want to sort through only the items that interest you.

One complaint I have about reading tweets is that ElectionCaster opens them in your Web browser instead of giving you the option to open them in your preferred Twitter app.

The app displays blogs in an interesting way: Instead of simply listing items (as in the other sections), it groups blogs based on political ideals. This separation makes the section look and feel streamlined, as it doesn't bombard you with irrelevant news.

For anyone who follows elections religiously, this app is a great guide. The amount of information it offers is astounding. Despite the Twitter limitations, my main news app for this election cycle will definitely be ElectionCaster.
