StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty developer and publisher Blizzard Entertainment warned players back on September 14 that the ban hammer was hanging over the heads of cheaters. That ban hammer dropped Friday, with Blizzard announcing on Battle.net that more than 5000 players had been banned for violations of its Terms of Use for "cheating and/or using hack programs while playing."
We contacted Blizzard for comment and are awaiting a response. Blizzard also says it's going to continue looking for StarCraft 2 cheaters after Friday's action.
