Celebrities have really tough lives. They’re hounded by photographers, take meaningless work just to scrape by, and have trouble meeting attractive people for casual flings.

Lindsay Lohan has admitted that she uses Tinder, but that doesn't mean you'll be matched with her.

OK, the paparazzi part is true. The rest: not so much. But popular dating app Tinder is taking pity on superstars with a new verification program that lets other users know if a real live celebrity is behind that familiar face, or if it’s just another phony. The app’s chief marketing officer Justin Mateen told The Hollywood Reporter that Tinder’s normal Facebook verification process, which the app uses to make sure its users are real people with friends, doesn’t work if a celeb is using a fake name on Facebook to avoid a social onslaught.

So the app has created another process for the ultra-famous, though it’s unclear exactly what that process entails. Suffice it to say that you and I will never know what it’s like to use Tinder as a star.

But do celebrities really use Tinder, or is this just a giant marketing stunt? According to the Reporter, the app has famous fans like Lindsay Lohan (not surprising), Josh Groban (maybe a little surprising), and Ashton Kutcher (does Mila know?). Apparently, single Olympians were using the app to hook up with each other in Sochi.

Stars tend to use the app when in close proximity with other stars, like at awards ceremonies or parties, so don’t think that you’ll come across Lohan’s face just by frantically swiping through prospective Tinder matches in New York (or wherever she’s living these days). But if you do, check to make sure she’s verified before you try to set up a date—it’s just common sense.
