PhotoFunia is the 21st-century version of the picture boards you see at museums and other tourist spots with a cutout where you can stick your head. You select from a series of stock pictures, and, with the use of face-recognition technology and pictures from your camera phone, PhotoFunia attaches your face to them. The results are basically what you would expect from a crude Photoshop edit, but that's part of the fun.

That being said, although PhotoFunia gets most things right in terms of keeping things simple and easy, I did encounter a couple of difficulties. First, I found that sometimes PhotoFunia will not load up properly. I suspect this has to do with the fact that the app requires a Wi-Fi connection but occasionally has difficulty recognizing that connection. Second, some stock pictures that you use with PhotoFunia require that you crop photos, but I couldn't seem to adjust the size of the crop, which I found frustrating and which resulted in pictures I wasn't entirely happy with. Additionally, the app offers a lot of different stock pictures to choose from, but provides no good way to browse through them. Being able to sort stock pictures by categories, alphabetically, or by other methods would have been a welcome feature.

Another issue: The face-recognition technology is finicky. That shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone since being able to recognize faces is a complicated process; in many respects, it is impressive that PhotoFunia's face-recognition technology even works at all. But it means that what you'll be able to get out of PhotoFunia will be limited.
