With over 100,000 apps available in the Android Market, digging up the best ones can be a challenge--you can find lot of great apps out there, but also a lot of junk. AppAware helps you discover, install, tag, and share the most popular Android apps, using a technique called crowdsourcing.

AppAware has many features, but its tracking function is the most significant: It monitors each app you install, update, and uninstall in real time, and then it publishes that information along with information from all other users, calculating statistics based on that data.

You can use AppAware anonymously, or you can sign up for an account and choose a public username. If you select a username, that name attaches to all of your AppAware activity. You can also choose to associate your Facebook and Twitter accounts with AppAware, so your activity goes into your Facebook or Twitter stream.

Using AppAware is easy. A navigation toolbar on the bottom of the screen has five tabs, labeled Live, Nearby, Top, Friends, and Installed. The Live tab provides a real-time feed of apps that users are installing, updating, or uninstalling. Click on an app for more information and a link to install it.

The Nearby feature uses your phone's GPS to find out what apps are popular in your area. Under the Top tab is a list of the most popular apps broken down by hour, day, week, and OS version. In Friends you can check up on other AppAware users that you follow; you can see which apps your friends have been installing and what their tags are. A companion app called AppAware: Contacts to Friends will scan your phone's address book to determine if you know anyone who is already on AppAware, so you can follow them.

Under Installed you get a list of your installed apps. You can share them with friends via e-mail and tag them with descriptive keywords.

AppAware also has a built-in help section (go to Menu, Tutorial) that walks you through the features.

If you've been wondering what apps you should try next, AppAware should be your first choice.
