When Zynga bought up Words With Friends developer New Toy Inc. last December, many wondered what would become of the addictive word game.

Today Zynga announced that it would be bringing the popular iOS game to Android. The app will be cross platform, allowing Android users to square off against people on iOS and vice versa. Like in the iOS version, players will be able to join multiple games and have push notifications sent to them once it's their turn.

The app is expected to launch for free later this month with an ad free premium version in the works as well. While Words With Friends is nice, I'm still waiting for Zynga to port over Farmville so I can keep a constant watch on my crops even on the go.
