Several tech titans rank among Forbes' list of the world's richest people.

1,210 Billionaires

Forbes recently released its list of the world's billionaires, and those who made their fortunes in the technology and telecom industries had a fair showing. The list is up to a record 1,210 billionaires, and 89 came from the technology industry, including Google founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page (tied at No. 24), Amazon's Jeff Bezos (No. 30), Dell's Michael Dell (No. 44), Microsoft's Steve Ballmer (No. 46) and Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg (No. 52).

Christy Walton, an heir to the Wal-Mart fortune, is No. 10 with $26.5 billion.

Mukesh D. Ambani

Mukesh D. Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries, India, is ninth with $27 billion.

Eike Batista

Brazilian industrial magnate Eike Batista is eighth with $30 billion.

Amancio Ortega

Amancio Ortega, chairman of Spanish global fashion group Inditex, is seventh with $31 billion.

Lakshmi Mittal

Arcelor Mittal Chairman and CEO Lakshmi Mittal is sixth with 31.1 billion.

Larry Ellison

Oracle CEO Larry Ellison is fifth with $39.5 billion.

Bernard Arnault

Bernard Arnault, chairman and CEO of LVMH Moet Hennessy-Louis Vuitton, is fourth with $41 billion.

Warren Buffett

Financier and Berkshire Hathaway Chief Executive Warren Buffett is third with $50 billion.

Bill Gates

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates is second with $56 billion.

Carlos Slim Helu

Mexican telecom tycoon Carlos Slim Helu is the richest person in the world, according to the latest ranking from Forbes . The magazine pegs his net worth at $74 billion. He added a stunning $20.5 billion to his fortune last year, having merged his fixed-line telecom company Telmex into America Movil, the largest wireless carrier in Latin America.
