SCREEN2EXE

This is where the free part comes in. In order to save as a far more portable SWF Flash file or AVI movie file, you'll need a different program, the $49 SCREEN2SWF.

For use in presentations, it would have been nice if there were keyboard shortcuts built in to the executable. Most movie players allow you to pause with the space bar, but not this one.

File size is an issue. A two-minute movie EXE was seven megabytes, meaning a 60 minute presentation might push 210 megabytes. The SCREEN2SWF program, however, can create files that are much smaller.

If a standalone file with its own built-in player will suffice for your screen-recording needs, then SCREEN2EXE is fine. Otherwise, look into SCREEN2SWF.
