This free English-language rhyming dictionary lets you find perfect rhymes, which have the same ending sounds. Search results are organized by number of syllables, followed by a list of idioms, phrases, and proverbs that end in words that rhyme with your target. A search on "dinosaur," for example, yielded such gems as "drawer," "explore," "furthermore," and "all's fair in love and war." A search on "computer" returned "tutor," "sharpshooter," and "prosecutor"--but no proverbs, alas. Often-used words are in boldface.

The interface is fairly straightforward: Just type your word into the blank field and hit Search. You can browse through your results by clicking the browser-like Back and Forward buttons at the top of the window. Be warned, however: If you click the green box you'll wipe out your current search results and any saved in the program's search history.

Rhymesaurus Free is based on a 35,000-word dictionary; the $30 full version contains a 120,000-word rhyming dictionary with 21 rhyme types, a thesaurus, and other linguistic tools. Read our review and download the 30-day trial if you have serious wordsmithing needs.

Although Rhymesaurus Free is based on a fairly limited dictionary and contains fewer features than the full version, it's probably quite adequate for folks like marketing writers and casual poets or songwriters.
