If you own a Kinect, you are probably accustomed to having to rearrange your entire living room just to use it. To play anything Kinect you have to stand at least a good 6-feet away from the sensor, and you can just forget about it entirely if you live in a small apartment.
Nyko has finally created a solution for gamers with small rooms by slapping on some binoculars, called the Zoom, onto the Kinect. The Zoom is an optical clip-on device that uses two wide-angle lenses. The extra glass tightens up the Kinect’s focal distance by widening and magnifying its view. With the attachment, the Kinect can detect two players that stand between 3 and 6 feet from the sensor.
Here's a video from Nyko that shows how it works:
So the next time you feel like mixing it up with Dance Central or playing Kinect Adventures, you won’t have to move your coffee table, couch, and the dog--or tape your Kinect sensor to the ceiling. The Nyko Zoom is available now for $29.99 at retailers or direct from Nyko.
