The Sony PlayStation Vita debuted in Japan earlier this year, but next month it is finally coming to U.S. shores for $300. It will be the first handheld gaming device available from a carrier. The Vita has done fairly well in Japan selling 325,00 units on the opening weekend.

Available February 22nd, AT&T is offering two data plans for the Vita. For $15 a month, you get 240MB of data or for $25/month you can get 2GB of data. Thankfully, you won’t be tied into a long-term contract with the Vita.

The Vita features an OLED touchscreen, a rear touch pad, two analog joysticks, an advanced processor and graphics unit as well as GPS and dual cameras. The Vita is positioned to take on Nintendo’s 3DS though it might be at a slight disadvantage launching after the holidays in the U.S.

The Sony Playstation Vita is one of many devices AT&T is announcing today so stay tuned for more news out of the Developer Summit.
