Qubeey--a new interactive way of communicating with your friends and following the channels you love--debuted at CES on Tuesday.
Qubeey "is a social business communications platform," according to Qubeey's Kenny Bereal, Executive VP of Entertainment & Strategic Alliances. The little blue cube-like app and platform lets you view news feeds from several social networks like Facebook and Twitter, while also allowing you to follow "channels" from companies or individuals that you're interested in (much like you might follow a channel on YouTube).
Qubeey delivers conent directly to your desktop, much like how a RSS reader or Twitter client does. You don't need to navigate through a browser--everything is right there on the cube. All you need to do is click the cube to see the feeds and channels you subscribe to.
Qubeey lets channel creators send out very targeted material for their readers or users. For example, if you want to Chase Bank, you'll receive financial information through Qubeey. If you subscribe to a sports channel, you'll get sports. Channels can broadcast video and share other media as well.
While you go about your daily tasks, a little Qubeey cube will float on the bottom of your screen. You can open the Qubeey app from the cube, watch videos, or get live updates in your various RSS-like feeds while you work. Qubeey is free for end-users; you can also make your own channels, but they may include advertisements unless you set up some kind of business account with Qubeey.
Bereal told me that the small startup of about 15-20 people has been around since about March last year and has had about 75,000 beta testers. You can find out more over at the Qubeey website.
