Hope you didn’t have any plans this Valentine’s Day: Bioware has released a demo of the long-awaited final chapter in the Mass Effect trilogy.

The demo offers a glimpse of the first 20 minutes or so of the game, that’s sees Commander Shepard on the ground just before Earth is invaded by the nefarious Reapers. Later on in the demo, you’ll be back in Shepard’s shoes palling around with your old buddies Liara and Garrus on a mission to...well I won’t spoil it.

If you can’t wait for the download to complete to catch up with the Mass Effect universe, you can also check out this 40 minute video that plays through it for you.

The demo is available now for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, in advance of the full game, which is out on March 6th. Grab the demo from Bioware’s Mass Effect 3 site or directly from your conference of choice, and get a little quality time with the Commander and friends. We’ll bring you more about the game and our quest to kick ass and take names throughout the galaxy once Mass Effect 3 is officially released in just a few weeks.
